The Treasures of Thornby
The Treasure sof Thornby is a text adventure written using my adventure engine called LANTERN which compiles for a variety of retro computers and some not-so-retro like Linux, Windows and macOS.
Thornby is a small market town at the edge of the Greywood. Its people are proud of eight treasures, each kept in its own place. The crown sits on the castle throne and the chalice on the chapel altar. The Sword of Aldric rests in the hand of the old king's statue, and the silver bell hangs in the bell tower. The emerald amulet glows in the forest's standing stones, and the golden horseshoe brings luck from above the blacksmith's forge. The town's gold sleeps in the treasury strongbox.
Then, on a night of fire and smoke, a red dragon came down from the hills. She was hunting for her stolen egg. She scattered the treasures across the town, the forest and the caves beyond the river, and Thornby's luck went with them.
You are a young villager with nothing but your wits. Find the eight treasures and bring each one back to its proper place. The thieves who took the dragon's egg left it somewhere in the forest, and she would very much like it back.
