Sunken Treasure
Sunken Treasure was written in 1984 as a 2.8 KB BASIC program for the unexpanded Commodore VIC-20. Its new Lantern edition keeps every room, puzzle and line of the original, and builds a larger game around them.
A storm has lifted an old wreck half out of the water on the reef. A sign on the beach says what to do: Leave treasure here. In 1984 there was one treasure, a chest of gold coins guarded by an octopus. Now there are five. Each one left by the sign scores 20%, and bringing back all five wins the game.

Built with Lantern
Lantern is an adventure writing system for 8-bit computers, modelled on Gilsoft's The Quill. A game is written once as a database, and every Lantern machine reads the same file. Sunken Treasure plays on the Commodore 64, 128, Plus/4, C16, VIC-20 and PET, the Atari 8-bit and ST, the Apple II, the BBC Micro, the Amstrad CPC, the ZX Spectrum, the Mattel Aquarius and Linux. On the VIC-20 it needs a 16K expansion.
